Sigma Brushes vs. Morphe Brushes | Dupes?

This may sound a bit silly to some, but I genuinely felt it necessary to make a post like this- especially after hearing countless comparisons of these 2 brands in particular.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard an influencer compare Sigma brushes to Morphe, claiming there are comparable in quality and performance, I think I would have enough money to buy Linda's share of Morphe. Now granted, everyone I know personally, who owns makeup brushes from Morphe, has only shared positive thoughts and even compared them to certain MAC brushes they own, raving about the performance and price of the Morphe brushes. I personally have never been bothered to try any of their brushes because I already have so many, but about a month ago, I really needed to pick up a few more eyeshadow blending brushes, so I thought it would be the perfect time to test drive some from Morphe.

Based on online reviews and "every" influencers' recommendations, I picked up the following brushes: M562 Tiny Crease Blender, M514 Detail Round Blender, M518 Crease Fluff, M513 Round Blender, M510 Pro Round Blender, M433 Pro Firm Blending Fluff, M441 Pro Firm Blending Crease, & Set 702- 12 Piece Eye-Credible Set.

And then my order arrived....

I will admit, I was excited to try these brushes and I had high-ish expectations once I had them in my hands, but when I got around to actually using them on my lids, my feelings completely changed.

I immediately noticed how scratchy the Morphe brushes were once I started using them to blend shadows (more so the white haired brushes), and you can see just how unevenly the hairs were packed into the ferrule when looking at each brush. But I honestly did not let this get to me because at the end of the day, I spent my money on these brushes so I planned on making them work for me. That is, until I cleaned them. 

This is no exaggeration ladies and gentlemen! After a single cleaning of my brand new Morphe brushes, the hairs literally frayed like no other. They were already a bit frayed to begin with, but NOTHING compared to what I saw after having washed and air dried them. I mean I knew this wasn't going to be close to high-quality goat hairs, but oh my gosh, it's absolutely dreadful! And since I constantly hear so many influencers sing praises of these exact brushes, claiming they are dupes for or even better than Sigma brushes, I thought we ought to actually compare the 2.

Below I have included comparisons of all Morphe brushes I own, that I thought were pretty close "dupes" of a few Sigma brushes, and in all honesty, these brushes would actually be really good dupes if only the quality was even remotely on par with, let's say Sonia Kashuk (I think she has some AMAZING affordable brushes, some of which I have used since middle school & they're still in great condition).

I think it's safe to assume I will not be purchasing any more eyeshadow brushes from Morphe any time soon. And I realise that for many, these are a fantastic option and they may not have had the same experience as I did, but that is perfectly okay with me. I would just much prefer to save a bit more and put it towards investing in brushes that I know would last me a lifetime, versus spending some loose change on a stack of brushes that can't even make it past being cleaned. 

In this post, I hoped to share my honest thoughts and experience with Morphe brushes, and to perhaps debunk the myth that Morphe has produced dupes comparable to Sigma or MAC brushes because quite frankly, to say Morphe is the same as Sigma should be heresy. And you don't even have to take my word for it, I think the photos speak for themselves. So hopefully I was able to provide a useful point of reference for any of you contemplating purchasing from either of these brands, and feel free to share your experience after having used either!
