Bh Cosmetics- Take Me Back to Brazil palette & new Studio Pro concealers

July 11, 2017

Hi my darlings! I feel like it's been ages since I've hopped on here for a little chat (I think it's been a little over 2 weeks since my last post). My sincerest apologies. I was on a role pumping out posts, then suddenly I went M.I.A. Honestly, this dry spell came about because my sleep schedule has been terribly off recently, I'm not entirely sure why, but basically, no matter how hard I try, I just cannot fall asleep :/. It's my guess that something funky may be happening with my serotonin levels, but I'm no doctor so who knows! But I literally lay in bed for hours and I just cannot seem to fall asleep until about 4 or 5am. Then I routinely wake up around 9 or 10am (it's summer, I have no obligations guys) and I feel so tired for most of the day; that is, until the Sun goes down (then I suddenly get a burst of energy, which is perfect right before bed *sikeeeeee*).

Besides that, the weather has also consistently been trash and bipolar as usual; one minute theres a thunderstorm, the next there's a bit of Sun that lasts long enough for me to sneeze, and then *poof* SHE'S GONE! I've also been working on some changes to the layout of my blog- I've been at it non-stop these past few days. And I'm really happy with the way it all turned out (for the time being). Oh dear, let me get back on topic. Sorry for the laundry list, but I just wanted to at least let you guys know why I've been "gone." But anyhoo, I think that's enough of my rambling, let's get on to the main reason we're all here!

So last week I placed an order on the Bh Cosmetics site because I desperately wanted to get my hands on the new "Take Me Back to Brazil" eyeshadow palette. I've literally been patiently awaiting the release of this palette guys; checking every single day to see if they finally announced a date. So you can imagine how excited I was when it finally got to my home yesterday (yo girl was beaming). While I was on the website, I also picked up 2 of their new "Studio Pro Total Coverage" concealers in shades Yellow & #102. Can I just add that it was kind of a headache trying to figure out what shades to get because the swatches provided on the website had no shade names listed next to them, and I think that can be very confusing for a lot of people. Especially if you don't think to count down the number of swatches then match that number up with the shade numbers (yeah that's just doing the most, y'all could've just gone on picmonkey and put the shade names next to each swatch for yo girl). And even with me doing that, I still don't think I picked the right shade for my skin tone because the swatch from their website compared to the swatch I did on myself, look completely different (but that's life, I bought the yellow shade anticipating something like this happening, so I'll just have to mix the 2 concealers and make it work).

Now below you guys can find my swatches of the entire "Take Me Back to Brazil" palette, as well as the "Studio Pro Total Cover" concealers I picked up. I'll also chuck in my first impressions of some of the shades, but do keep in mind, I haven't actually put these to the test yet. So if you guys want an overall "review" of these items, I'll definitely have that up (probably in the next blogpost *update- link HERE*), once I get to playing! :)

All shades are swatched starting from the left hand side, going down vertically. So the first picture, I have rows 1 & 2 (going vertically) swatched on my arm. Image 2 contains swatches of rows 3 & 4, image 3- rows 5 & 6, and image 4- rows 7 & 8. In image 5 you will find swatches of the bottom row of the palette (swatched from left to right). And as always, photos of my swatches have NOT been edited in any capacity! They were also taken in natural light- no studio or artificial lighting was used!

**Sidenote- don't mind my arm hairs. I'm human people, not a hairless mole rat.**

From my swatches alone, I'm sure it's clear that some of these shadows are quite powdery/chunky (the white shade especially!!). The pigmentation of the shadows is also not consistent, but again, on the lids with some primer, they may perform differently (so stay tuned for my thoughts after I play around with them). I think, solely based on the swatches, the first 2 rows (going vertically) seem to have the best colour pay off, and there was little to no fall out or bunching up of the eyeshadows when I swatched them. Also worth noting, the individual pans are so itty bitty, so 1. you're not getting a lot of product per pan, and 2. that did make swatching a little bit "difficult" because I do have long nails and the opposite of tiny barbie doll finger tips sooo....yeah. Just thought you should be aware.

Now on to the concealers! :)

From my swatches (shade "Yellow" on the left and  #102 next to it) I'm sure you can imagine my face when I saw shade #102 (guuuurrrl.). But it's okay. It's okay. I can make it work!

I'm actually not too sure how these will perform on the face (I plan on using them under my eyes) because from blending them on my hand, I'm having mixed feelings. Also, just a sidenote, I actually removed the cap wrong. You're supposed to pop off the top bit, I actually untwisted it which took off the bit the shade label is attached to. But if you do that, it screws back on easily, so I mean either way you're fine- it's not broken.
----
Alrighty, that's pretty much it! Don't forget to check back for a tutorial using these new goodies + my general "review" of the items. Oh, and do let me know how you're liking my little changes to the blog! (If you hate it then I don't want to know, you can keep that to yourself lol...)

xoxo
